Caring for your willow basket

Your basket should last a long time. The most important thing is to keep it somewhere dry. If mould appears, you can gently scrub it off with soapy water and then treat with a weak vinegar solution. If you think the willow has dried over time out, you can brush on a small amount of linseed oil and this can restore the appearance of the bark, but too much may not absorb and can be a growth medium for mould. I can send you a small amount of linseed oil if this is helpful. Some baskets can be repaired. Bow handles can be replaced easily and I’m happy to do this. Some baskets have a foot added which can be easily replaced if they become worn. I am happy to answer questions to help you care for your basket.
