Immersive week with Hanna Van Aelst

Thanks to Creative Scotland and Highlife Highland, I was able to travel to Ireland for another immersive week with Hanna Van Aelst 🙏🏻

With Hanna’s guidance I achieved the goals I had set for the week - a square basket, a fitched basket and a basket with a lid.

My scalloming is improving (it’s still quite hard for me to get them tight and neat) and I’ll keep practising.

The friendships and shared interests extended beyond the weaving again on this course, and I gained so much inspiration and confidence weaving alongside my fellow basketeers. It was a lot of fun. Maybe next time I’ll be brave and try a d-shaped backpack.

I came home bursting with ideas.

It was also flipping great to spend time with my lovely friend Aoife either side of the weaving week - eating, dog sitting and visiting recycling projects, just like the olden days.

I really hope to be weaving in Ireland again in the not too distant future.
